12 Section Types

Mix & match any of these building blocks to craft exactly the end credits you need — from single titles to multi-track soundtracks.

Single Credit

One role & one name, centered — perfect for "Directed by" or "Produced by" titles.

Double Column

Role on the left, name on the right — the classic crew list format. Paste directly from Excel or Google Sheets.

Cast List with Dot Leaders

Character name ........ Actor name. Auto-generated dotted lines between role and name — the classic film cast format.

Name Wall (3–5 Columns)

Dump 50+ names and choose how many columns. Perfect for "Special Thanks", Kickstarter backers or extras.

Music / Soundtrack Credits

Structured blocks for multiple tracks with song title, "Written by", "Performed by" and "Courtesy of" fields.

Section Header

Big centered uppercase title with optional underline to separate departments — CAST, STUNTS, POST PRODUCTION.

Text Block

Free-form centered text for disclaimers, dedications, "In memory of" or any custom paragraph.

Logo

A single centered logo or image with adjustable size — perfect for production company logos.

Image Block

Multiple images in a grid — sponsors, partners, logos and more. Configurable columns, size and gaps.

Spacer

Control pacing with dedicated empty space blocks. Adjustable height with optional centered label.

QR Code

Auto-generated QR code linking to any URL — Spotify, website, Patreon & more.

Scrolling Video

A video that scrolls along with the credits — outtakes, BTS footage or post-credit scenes.

Key Features

Real-Time Canvas Preview

See your credits scroll live as you edit. Timeline scrubber, play/pause and click-to-scroll from any section card.

MP4 Video Export

Export as MP4 (H.264) — configurable resolution up to 4K, framerates from 23.976 to 60fps.

Fonts

Choose from a curated selection of beautiful, cinema-ready fonts — loaded on demand and cached for instant use.

Excel / Sheets Paste

Copy a two-column selection from any spreadsheet and paste it — the tool auto-detects the tab-separated structure.

Element Styles (Expert Mode)

Fine-tune every text element individually — scale, opacity and color for roles, names, headers, music labels and more.

Title Safe Area

Toggle a title safe area overlay and adjust horizontal margin (3–25%) to keep text away from TV overscan edges.

Gzip-Compressed Projects

Save your project as a compact .credits file (gzip). Load it back anytime — even legacy JSON files are supported.

Drag & Drop Reorder

Rearrange sections by dragging their handles. Collapsible cards, duplicate, hide titles — full editorial control.

Resizable Panels

Drag the dividers between sidebar, preview canvas and settings panel to customize your workspace.

How It Works

1

Add your sections

Pick from 12 section types: crew credits, cast lists, music tracks, name walls, logos, QR codes, scrolling videos & more. Paste from Excel or type manually.

2

Style & preview

Choose a font, adjust sizes, spacing and colors. Use Element Styles for per-element control. Watch the live canvas preview update instantly.

3

Export as video

Hit Export to render a smooth MP4 video (up to 4K, 60fps). Drop it straight into your NLE timeline.

Save, Share & Reuse

Your credits project isn't a one-time export — it's a reusable, shareable template.

Save as .credits File

Download your entire project — all sections, styles, fonts and images — as a single compact .credits file. Open it again weeks or months later and pick up exactly where you left off.

Hand Off to Your Editor

Prepare the credits on your laptop, send the .credits file to the editor or colorist, and let them export at the final resolution. No need to share raw text documents or screenshots.

Reuse Across Projects

Built a credits template for your production company? Save it once and reload it for every new film. Just swap the names and export — your layout, fonts and element styles stay intact.

Team-Friendly Workflow

The producer writes the credits list, the designer fine-tunes the typography, and the editor exports the final video. One file, multiple contributors, zero friction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I overlay the credits on my footage?

Export with a black background, then use the "Lighten" or "Screen" blending mode in your video editor (Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut). White text on black becomes fully transparent — the industry-standard method used in professional post-production.

Can I paste credits from Excel or Google Sheets?

Absolutely. Copy a two-column selection (roles + names) and paste into any Double Column or Cast List section. The tool automatically detects the tab-separated structure and fills in all rows.

What video format does the export use?

The Credits Roll Generator exports MP4 (H.264) using the browser's built-in WebCodecs API with hardware-accelerated encoding — no plugins or downloads required. MP4 offers excellent compatibility with all major video editors (Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut) and supports framerates from 23.976 to 60fps.

What are Element Styles?

Element Styles is an expert feature that lets you independently control the scale (0.1×–3.0×), opacity and color of every text element type — roles, names, section titles, cast dots, music labels and more. One global font size slider scales everything proportionally, while Element Styles give you fine-grained overrides.

What is the Title Safe Area?

TVs and some monitors crop the outer edges of the picture (overscan). The Title Safe Area overlay shows you where text should stay to remain visible on all screens. You can toggle it on/off and adjust the horizontal margin from 3% to 25%.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs 100% in your browser. Your text, images and the rendered video never leave your device. Projects are saved locally as compressed .credits files.

Can I save my project and continue later?

Yes. Hit "Save Project" to download a gzip-compressed .credits file. Load it back anytime with "Load Project". Legacy JSON files from older versions are also supported.

Can I share my project with someone else?

Yes. The .credits file contains everything — sections, styles, fonts and embedded images. Send it to a colleague via email, Slack or any file-sharing service. They can open it in the Credits Roll Generator and continue editing or export immediately.

Can I reuse a project as a template for other films?

Absolutely. Save your project once, then load it for each new production. Your layout, fonts, element styles and section structure are preserved — just update the names and export again.

Can I use this in a school or university?

Absolutely — it's ideal for education. No license costs, no accounts, no student data collected. Everything runs locally in the browser, making it fully compatible with GDPR and school data-protection policies. Works on Chromebooks, Mac labs and Windows PCs without installation or admin rights.

What resolutions are supported?

You can export in 1280×720 (HD), 1920×1080 (Full HD) or 3840×2160 (4K UHD) — at framerates from 23.976 to 60fps.
