A song about climate change? The music on this website is usually more than just simple background music for videos. Here, I often put my thoughts and feelings into it. For example, the song "The quiet we ignored".

The phrase "the quiet we ignored" (the silence we ignored) is the emotional core and key message of the song. In the context of these lyrics, which deal very clearly with climate change, missed opportunities, and the impending catastrophe, this line has a double meaning.

Here is the analysis of why this wording was chosen:

1. The silence as a missed warning

The verses describe how nature has been "playing wrong" for a long time ("trees forgot their lines", "earth kept turning out of tune").

These changes were initially not loud like a storm, but subtle and quiet (e.g., snow in April).

"The quiet" here refers to the subtle signs of nature that we, as a society, have perceived but not taken seriously. We have discussed "years and numbers" (years and numbers) instead of listening to the quiet, but urgent reality.

2. The silence as a collective silence (suppression)

The text says: "we knew / we waited / we knew".

There was knowledge of the consequences, but it was ignored or postponed ("spoke in maybe, soon").

This "silence" is the conscious avoidance. It is the uncomfortable silence that arises when you know an uncomfortable truth, but you keep it silent in everyday life to continue as before.

3. The reversal in the final

In the final chorus, it says:

"the quiet we ignored is calling / and it’s louder now inside"

This is the turning point. The silence (the suppressed truth) is no longer quiet. It has become an inner scream ("louder now inside").

Because we have ignored the external signs, the inner urgency (conscience, fear, realization) is now deafening.

"The quiet we ignored" is the sum of all the missed moments when we could have acted, but we didn't. It is the realization that the silence and inaction (the ignoring) were ultimately louder and more destructive than the storms themselves.
