The topic of translations: This website is currently available in 20 languages and — I have to be honest: it’s always given me headaches. The costs for all the automatic translations were sometimes higher than the server costs. Now, 2 days ago, the new AI model TranslateGemma from Google came out and I finally had to test it. So, I set up a new Docker container and, instead of Gemini and OpenAI, let my own server do the work for once. What can I say: it purrs like a kitten and I think the translations are okay, too. I can only really judge the English version — but even if it’s not 100% perfect, it’s enough for this website.
